I hope the weather gets nicer…

Monday turned out to be a real bummer. I was so excited thinking I was going to be able to get up and cruise around all day. Cindy came in and fed the boys and then she fed me, she asked me what I wanted to do and I told her I wanted to get up and out. She told me that she needed to have more notice if I wanted to get up, she was supposed to be here at 7 AM but didn't show up until 7:30 AM and when I told her at 8:30 AM she said it was too late so I just decided I better stay in bed. Sometimes I just get so frustrated and defeated. It did motivate me to go online and look for any kind of source to find a caregiver, I hope one of them pans out. I noticed a lot of people always say "please just let me know if you need any help and I will be glad to help you" Then when you really need help nobody's ever around then later that day or the next day they always say "why didn't you call us". I guess it's just the way life goes and I really do need to rely more on myself to solve situations. I always wish I could find one person that I could rely on and that will help me or listen to me but I think that's just not gonna happen. It's a really good lesson but I can only count on myself.

Today is the Tuesday and the 25th anniversary of my spinal cord injury. Cindy came in and fed the hungry boys and then fit me. She got me dressed and up in my chair and the Woofpack came to get Robby for his puppy play date so it was just Dude and me for the day. We went for a cruise through Depot Park, down to the end of the world and back a couple times and over to the boardwalk, enjoying how quiet it is because pretty soon summer is going to be here and it's going to be crazy. We cruised up and down a couple times and talk to Jimmy before we went home for the day. We practiced some commands and then I watch TV until Rosa came in. She fed the hungry boys and then fit me after she put me to bed. I had posted about the 25th anniversary of my injury online and it was so awesome to see people's reaction, it just made my whole day. I watched TV for a while, listen to some music and then fell asleep.

Wednesday was a really nice day. Susan came in and gave me a nice long massage, I felt so much better. Karen came in and we did some personal care and then I took a nice long hot bath, I would've loved to stay in bed because I'm always so comfortable after that but I have these two boys that are looking at me with those big brown eyes and I would do anything for them so I got up.  Rob from advanced blinds and shades came out to see why one of the blinds in my bedroom won't go up and down when Alexa tells them to, it took him about 20 seconds to realize the charger wasn't plugged in all the way… It's always something really simple. My Google Glass is taking pictures but for some reason, I can't get them to upload off the glass so it's very frustrating, I still have my go Pro and thank goodness for that. I get really frustrated when I can't get up and take pictures but I think I need to learn to just go out and enjoy cruising around this beautiful city and not worry too much about pictures anymore. Robby and I cruised over through Depot Park and down to the wharf and back, we always circle depot Park a couple of times so Robby can export a few drops on everything. Robby and I cruised back home and rested for a bit and then Dude and I took off for a nice long cruise up and down the wharf a couple times and then up and down the boardwalk a couple times. I watch TV for a while until Rosa came in and then she fed the boys, put me to bed and then fed me. She buzzed around and cleaned up for a little bit and then went home. I watched TV for a while and I was out.

Thursday was a pretty good day. Karen came in and fed the hungry boys, fed me and then got me dressed and up in my chair. Jennifer came by to do a toning treatment on my face, usually, I go see her but on Thursdays, I don't have anyone to drive and she had a dentist appointment right around the corner. About 45 minutes and she was done. I took Robby out for a cruise around Depot Park a couple of times and then back home. Dude and I took off for the wharf at something in the back of my head told me to check my calendar, sure enough, I thought my appointment with Jessica was at 1 PM but when I looked I noticed it was at 11 AM and it was two minutes after. I texted her and told her I had down the wrong time and she said to go ahead and come on in and she would go ahead and do it really quickly, I was about two or 3 miles away and it took me about 1/2 an hour but I got there. At least Dude got in a nice workout. After Jessica finished with my hair we cruised back home and waited for Rosa to come in, She came in and fed the dogs and then put me to bed and fed me. I was supposed to go to a Santa Cruz Warriors basketball game but they were talking about a virus brought over from Japan that was making everybody stay inside and shutting down all public gatherings so they canceled the game. I played games on the computer and then listen to some meditation until I fell asleep.

Next Friday I was supposed to have a colonoscopy and upper G.I. procedure that I was supposed to start prepping for and it got canceled for the same reason, they started calling it the coronavirus and urged everybody to stay indoors… Especially older people, people with different abilities and children. I just watched TV at my house all day. Sara came in and took me over to the store to get some stuff for salads and a couple of other things because who knows how long this scare is going to go on. We came back home and Sara fed the boys and then put me to bed and fed me. I watched TV until I fell asleep.

Saturday was a scary day. They were urging people, now everybody, to stay inside their house unless they absolutely have to go out. Thet started saying more and more about the coronavirus and how everybody was hoarding paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies… The stores couldn't keep anything on their shelves, everybody was panicking. I have a pretty good stock of everything in my house so I'm not as worried as everyone else but I did stay in bed and just watch TV all day. It's a good thing I stayed in bed because Sara ended up texting me and asking me to have my mom come down and feed the dogs because she was having a really bad day and was going to try to pull herself together and come in later, she never did come in.

Sunday was another scary day. The media is more adamant that people do not come out of their house unless they absolutely have to so I stayed in bed again. Again Sara messaged me and said she was having a hard time waking up and getting out of bed but she did eventually come in. She fed the boys and then me and then took off for home. I just watched TV and checked out all the postings on Facebook just to see how bad this virus is, the worst ever they said. I'm so glad I stayed home and in bed.

I thought it was going to be a little warmer this week…

Monday was another nice relaxing day. Karen came in and fed the boys and we did some personal care and a nice long hot bath, I slept through most of it like I always do. After taking a nice long hot bath and getting back into bed is so relaxing, I can see the wind picking up outside but at this point, if I get up I'll only have a couple of hours to cruise around before Rosa comes in, tomorrow's going to be a nice long day. I looked into how to make a homepage on register.com and I think I'm going to look into some other places, it was a lot of fun and I like to get back into doing it again. Rosa came in and fed the starving boys and then fed me, she buzzed around and cleaned up and vacuumed before she went home. No cards tonight, it's nice to not have to get into bed and rush everything because people are coming over at 7 PM… I miss playing cards but it's just too late. I watch TV for a while until I fell asleep.

Tuesday was a really nice but busy day. Cindy came in and fed the boys and then fed me, got me dressed and up in my chair. The Woofpack came to get Robby for his puppy play date. Cindy drove dude and me over to Capitola for my appointment with Jennifer and doing a face toning series and I can't wait till it's done and I won't have to go back twice a week, it will just go back to every three weeks. We came back to Santa Cruz and cruised over to my appointment with Dude, it's that time for heartworm check in a couple of other vaccinations so we got to bring in a stool sample. They looked him over and cleaned out his ears, they're getting a little dirty and smelly which means ear infection. They gave me some medicine and told me to come back in a week. Usually on Tuesdays when we don't have the puppy play date I like to go to Ross, I get a discount every Tuesday because I'm old and I feel like I don't want to pass that up. We cruised back home and I took Dude out for a cruise up and down the wharf a couple of times and then back home to rest and wait for Rosa. Rosa came in and fed the hungry crew, put me to bed and then fed me. I haven't really been on Facebook for a while and I'm trying to figure out a new way to get my pictures off of my Google glass and onto my blog but so far nothing's working. I watched TV until I fell asleep.

Wednesday was a really busy day. Susan came in and I got a nice long massage, I always feel so much better. Karen came in and we did some personal care and a nice long hot bath and she got me dressed and open my chair. Nick from Bay area gate and fencing came by to put push pads on my new gate, it's going to be so much easier and hopefully, my packages will make it to the back porch like they are supposed to.  Dude and I cruised down to the farmers market and hung out for a while. I had an appointment with Robby so I decided to take dude along. I asked my mom if she could help me but their appointment was at 4:30 PM and she had dinner reservations so I thought I just take him down there by myself, it was a lot easier than I thought. I think I'm going to get a split leash and try taking them both for a cruise more often. Robby is doing great but dudes ear infection is getting worse so they cleaned it out again and I'll bring him back in a week, I was a little annoyed that they didn't give me anything for pain because he was obviously in a lot of pain so I decided to give him some of Robby's pet CBD and it really seems to help so both of us slept a lot better. Rosa came in and fed the boys and then put me to bed and fed me, it was a really long day and I was exhausted… I don't even think I heard Rosa leave.

Thursday was another busy day. Karen came in and got me dressed in up in my chair after she fed the boys and I. I took Robby out for a cruise down to the wharf, I got about halfway down the wharf and saw Annalise and remembered that Robby no longer has public access so we turned around and came home. Dude and I took off for downtown with my appointment with my psychologist at Abbott Square. We were going to go check out the insight, a place where they teach you mindfulness and meditating but I got some news the day before that I wanted to tell her about. Apparently, my cousin and her husband, who has been trying to move here for a long time, have to go back to their house in Florida. They have been renting it out and apparently the lady who lives there I'd like six or eight cats and totally trash place. They haven't really had that much luck renting that place out. After we have for you with Carol I cruised down to where my doctor's office is to drop off some paperwork for her to fill out for my long-term disability. We cruised back home and I got a call from H&R Block letting me know that my taxes are ready, Pamela sent me a link but it wouldn't let me sign in and I decided to just cruise up there. When I come out of my Street I had to turn left and there's a really steep street there and part of it was wet towards the top, I almost slid off the curb one day so I don't like going that way but my chair was almost dead and I didn't really have a choice… I slept a little bit but went slow so it wasn't that bad. I was sitting there talking to Pamela and trying to think how am I going to get home? I looked out the window and across the street and I saw DeFour Street and remembered that my neighbors moved there and it goes all the way across to California Street so I ended up going that way and came out by the lagoon. I cruised through the lagoon and made it home before my chair died, almost 12 miles I did today. Rosa fed the boys and put me to bed and got me something to eat, another week and then I'm going to have to fast for my colonoscopy… I'll be so glad to get that over with. Trish came by and we watched another episode of the marvelous Mrs. Meisel, that show just keeps getting better and better. Trish and Rosa left and I watched TV until I fell asleep.

Friday was a pretty nice day. Karen came in and fed the boys, we did some personal care and a bath and she got me dressed in up in my chair. I was up just in time for my appointment with Joy, she was going to show me how to work with Dude on the push pads for the gate… They are a little higher than usual so I moved in close and he got on my footrests and pushed it with his nose, it only took them a couple tries… He's such a smart boy! Karen's other client came from San Mateo to borrow my room and my bathroom because she had a problem and didn't have a caregiver and she's getting ready to go away for the weekend. Sarah came in and took me over to Capitola for my appointment with Jennifer. After my appointment, we went to Safeway to pick up the stuff I needed for my colonoscopy on the 20th. I just wanted to make sure I have everything way in advance. We cruised over to a thrift store that I looked around at yesterday, I saw a bunch of carousel horses and I thought that would be really cool to incorporate in whatever I do to the fence. I cruised in and looked right where it was and it was gone, Sara asked the cashier about it and there was a guy there that had just bought everything… I was so sad but he got there first so I was trying not to look too sad. After the cashier told me that I could have paid for it and held it and that's what I should've done, it was like $120 for like 10 carousel horses and she talked the guy into buying them and even look them up and they were worth over $300… I wish I would've just put a down payment on it the day before, I guess I just wasn't meant to have them? We cruised back home and Sara fed the boys and then put me to bed and fed me. I fell asleep before she left.

Saturday was a nice relaxing day. It was supposed to rain all day so I decided to stay in bed. Cindy came in and fed the boys and we all got a day of rest, the Woofpack sent out a reminder that there would not be a puppy play date today. Dudes' ear is really painful so we just gave him some pet CBD and that seemed to help, I was ready to take him back in again today because he was so miserable last night. Robby always had o ear infections but I've had dude for over a year and he's only had a couple of mild ones but this one was bad, Dr. Loganthetti said that four years old is about when lab start getting ear infections. The last couple of times I went in there they gave Dude treats and I think that might have had a little bit to do with it, I'm keeping the dogs off of grains. Sara came in and fed the boys and then fed me and took off to meet up with her friends for dinner, it's kind of nice to have so much time to myself. I have all the stuff that I was going to do but I just ended up watching TV in getting caught up on my blog and then I fell asleep.

Sunday was another relaxing day. I really debated whether I should get up or just stay in bed, I was so comfortable. I thought it might be a good idea to keep Dude inside for another day because of his ears. Cindy came in and fed the boys and then fed me, she straightened out some more clutter in my room before she went home. I watched Dr. Phil for pretty much the whole day. Sara texted me and said she was having a really bad day and she just noticed that it was daylight savings time in an hour ahead of what she thought. She said she was going to try to see if she was going to feel better and let me know if she was going to come in, I'm really glad that I didn't get up because there's nobody around. I had my mom come down and feed the boys. Sara never did show up, the last text I got from her said "IOU some crackers and a nice dinner". I can't wait to get up tomorrow. After watching TV for a while and being frustrated I finally fell asleep.

Monday, March 2, 2020

It's going to be another beautiful warm week…

Monday was a pretty good day. Karen is still off so Cindy came in to feed the boys and get me dressed and up in my chair before she went on to work. Robby and I took off for a cruise through the lagoon, we haven't cruised there for a while, Down Bay St., Park, third depot Park and then back home. I rested for a bit and then Dude and I took off work crews down Westcliff a little bit, up and down the wharf a couple times and over to the boardwalk a couple times… You really know what it's really nice getting up this early and I get to enjoy the whole day. We came back home and rested for a bit and then Rosa came in to do some personal care and a nice hot bath. It was really late when she left and I was nice and relaxed so I just dozed off to sleep.

Tuesday was a good day. Cindy came in to feed the boys and then feeding me, she got me dressing up in my chair and the Woofpack came to collect Robby for his puppy play date. Cindy drove Dude and I to Capitola for my appointment with Jennifer, she starting this toning procedure on my face so I don't get any more wrinkles hopefully. After the appointment, you drove us back and we got everything set up for the CCI puppy play date, it's usually the second Tuesday of every month but we missed this month because the wind blew my fence down. There were about six dogs and their handlers, the weather was really nice so we all had a nice visit. We talked about trying to find another place to have the play dates, It is not a good idea to take them to regular dog parks so were trying to find a private fenced in place… Enter would be perfect because then we could also have them in the winter. I decided after I went to bed I would message everybody I can think of and see if they can make any recommendations for the puppy play dates. One of the people I reached out to was Maria from the Woofpack and she said that they work a lot with the ASPCA and they would ask if they had a place we could bring the dogs, I think they have a little play area there but they're building a bigger one. This is very exciting! Rosa came in and fed the boys and put me to bed and then fed me, I was really tired and fell asleep instantly. my Google Glass is acting up again and the go Pro keeps getting jarred and moving around so not getting many pictures these days.

Wednesday was another good day. Cindy came in and got me dressed and up in my chair after she fed the boys, she straightened up a little bit and then went off to her job. Robby and I took off for cruise through Depot Park and down to the wharf, I got about halfway down the wharf and ran into Annalise and while I was talking to her I realized that I had Robby instead of Dude… Robby is no longer certified and cannot go into public places anymore. We cruised back home and I rested for a bit and then Dude and I took off for downtown to check out the farmers market. Dude and I headed over to the wharf and cruised up and down there a couple times and then over to the boardwalk, everybody's out painting and fixing everything on the boardwalk getting ready to start spring break. We cruised back home and I left Dude here and took off by myself for a cruise up and down the wharf, sometimes I just like to get away alone and lay back and stare at the ocean. Rosa came in to feed the boys, put me to bed and then feed me. Trish came over to watch an episode of Mrs. Meisel and Rosa overheard us talking about popcorn so she surprised us and made some popcorn. They went home and I just watch TV for a while until I fell asleep.

Thursday was another pretty good day. Karen came in and after she fed the hungry boys she got me dressed and up in my chair. I took Robby for a nice little cruise over to Depot Park and then onto the wharf and back. Dude and I took off for cruise after I rested for a bit. We took off downtown to look at the Goodwill store and the Salvation Army store for stuff that I could hang on my fence outside or something to add so it doesn't look so boring. I found a lot of stuff and it really gave me some good ideas but I'll wait and go back on Tuesday with Cindy so she can help me. I'm really excited about decorating this 300-foot fence! It was still a little early so Dude and I cruised over to the wharf, down to the end and back. We came on back home and rest for a bit before Rosa came in to feed the boys, put me to bed and feed me. I watched TV for a while, listen to music for a while and then fell asleep.

Friday was another great day. Karen came in and fed the boys before we did some personal care in a nice long hot bath. she got me dressed and up in my chair just in time for my appointment with joy, she is helping me with some fine-tuning with Dude she is such a good boy and so smart…The more I work with him the happier he gets and he is starting to look to me a lot more than my caregivers. I took Robby for a little cruise down to Depot Park and back. Dude and I took off for cruise down to the end of the wharf and back, after resting for a bit Sara came in and took me over to my appointment with Jennifer. Right as we got to her place of business I can see a Dairy Queen and I couldn't stop thinking about it, starting on the ninth I'm going to have to start fasting for two weeks so I wanted to get something good, my body is not used to this food and it just made me sick. It was a long day and I was ready to go home and get in bed and watch TV and just relax for a while. She fed the boys, put me to bed and fed me and I think I was out before she left.

Saturday was a nice relaxing day. I know there was going to be a triathlon which means pretty much everything is going to be blocked off or hard to get around. Cindy came in and fed the boys and then fed me and straightened up a little bit before she had to go. I watch TV all day, some TiVo and I found a channel that plays all of the old cartoons that I remember. I'm glad I didn't get up because it's really cold outside. I'm not sure if it's today or tomorrow but I'm going to stay out of it. I'm really glad that Robby is out with the Woofpack and I feel really sad that Dude has to stay inside all day but he's pretty adaptable. Sara came in and fed the boys and then fed me. She did some laundry and cleaned up the kitchen and then left, it's really kind and nice when everybody leaves and I have my room all to myself all day long, my family so busy right now and I don't see them very much but it's a nice little break…  I hardly ever get any time to myself. I was out right after she left.

Sunday was another lice relaxing day. Cindy came in and fed the boys and me, I really wanted to go look around at thrift places for ideas for my fence but then I thought about how crowded everything was going to be. I texted Sara early because I wanted to see what time she wanted to come in, I didn't hear from her for a long time so I decided I might just be best to stay in bed. It's going to be really crowded and cold out there anyway so I'll just relax in my nice warm bed and watch TV, towards the end of the evening it started getting really windy… It's nice to watch on the cameras and out the window when it's this cold. Sara finally texted me and said that she would be in at 4 PM. She came in and fed the boys and me, cleaned up a little bit and then went home. I listen to music, edited pictures and watch TV until I fell asleep.
