Tuesday I ended up staying in bed again and it looks so beautiful outside. Daniel is bringing over another set of new batteries, hopefully these ones will last and keep a charge. They keep telling me that the battery should only last about 7 miles but I've had this chair for about two years I may have ALWAYS lasted longer, I'm going to be really bummed if they still only last four or 5 miles. It got to be 2 o'clock, Daniel was supposed to be here at 2 o'clock, then 3 o'clock and I was getting a little annoyed. I stayed in bed on this beautiful day so that it wouldn't be inconvenient for him to put my batteries in and plus I can't really drive it around and ruin the charge, I have to do a full charge on the batteries before you driving around. I was going to give him until 4 o'clock and then I was going to call and find out what happened but he showed up at 3:30 PM and put my batteries in.
Wednesday was a really great day but it got HOT. I was anxious to test out my batteries and see how long they would actually last, I went 6.6 miles and they weren't dead. I cruise through the lagoon and then up on Westcliff and I could hear music coming from either the wharf for the Boardwalk site turned around to go find out where was coming from. I cruised down to the wharf and the music was getting louder. There is a stage on the wharf and there was a band playing there, there were no signs so I never found out why but I sent back and listen to them for a while and just admired the beautiful scenery. We cruise down to the end of the wharf and then back home to rest for a while before I went to the Farmer's market with Tom and Kelly, I have a feeling that I probably should not go because it was 2 PM and 90° outside but I decided to go and see what happens. We got there and I immediately had to go find some shade, it was supposed to cool down to 75° at 2 o'clock, it did not cool down and I was starting to get a headache so I decided to go home. For some reason I really panic when I start getting a headache, when I lived in San Jose I would get really bad headaches and it was nothing I could do except take medication and try to go to sleep. I cruised home and turn the AC up to 72, it was at 85. Rosa came and put me to bed and the usual gang came over to play cards. The moms birthday was a couple of days ago so we got some donuts for after the game. I haven't had anything like that since I was diagnosed with diabetes that was kind of nervous and only ate half, I saved all of my carbohydrates for the end of the day so I could have happened on. I have my mom come down a couple hours later and check my blood sugar and it was fine, 102. It was an old-fashioned plain donut, my favorite, and it didn't taste sweet or anything that size to know that I can enjoy something like that once in a while. I won a dollar and skunked everyone else but then I got skunked twice, I still came out ahead so that's okay.
Thursday was a pretty good day. I got up and took Robby or a cruise through the lagoon and down to the end of the wharf and back. I came back home and rested for a bit in the home health nurse came with my new cough assist machine. I had my mom and Kelly, and watch how to use it in case they need to, it wasn't really that hard. The nurse did tell me that I needed to get a secretion sucking machine also, thank goodness I have an appointment with Dr. Owens tomorrow. I tried a couple times after that to take Robby for another cruise but it was just too hot outside, it was 85° and I was waiting for it to cool down but it didn't. Teresa came at 4 o'clock take me to my diabetes costs and I was getting really bad chills and a headache, checked my hose to see if it was kinked anywhere and of course it was, me and my wheelchair were soaked so I had to call and cancel the diabetes class. Teresa put me to bed and it took her about two hours to take everything off my chair and wash it down, I definitely don't want to drive around smelling like urine… That is my biggest fear. We did some personal care I got to take a nice long hot bath, that sure felt great.
Friday was a perfect day. I thought it was good be warm like it has been the last couple of days but it was really nice. I got up and took Robby for a cruise around the usual places. I thought of doing good on battery juice but all of a sudden I looked down and it was heading towards empty. I came home and had my aunt guards the chair for me, I only have like 20 minutes before my appointment with Dr. Owens. It's always great to see Dr. Owen's. We went over all of my test results and she set up all new labs for pretty much everything, now I think I have to have blood work done every three months or so. she wants me to find a podiatrist and an eye doctor and see them once a month. Fun fun.
Saturday was a really great day. I got up and went outside to check and the weather was gorgeous. Omar was working on the front yard, youth doing such a great job… I love everything he does. Lisa was working on the back porch, the carport and replanting plants. It makes me feel so great when my house is looking better. I took Robby on a cruise through the lagoon, about halfway down to the lighthouse, to the end of the wharf and back and then I have to come home because my batteries were dying… I'm getting really tired of this and I keep getting told that this is the way it's supposed to be. I rested for a while and then went over to visit with Tom and Kelly for a while, the garden is looking really good. I came back and Shawna put me to bed and now it's time to rest and watch movies.
Sunday was another great day. After I got up Lisa took me to Costco, but well needed shopping trip. After we got back I took Robby for cruise around Santa Cruz. The weather was perfect and everything was beautiful but there was just too many people everywhere, but once up what the summer is going to be like. I guess that's the price you pay for living in such a gorgeous place? They got back and rested for a bit and Teresa came to do some personal care and a nice long, much-needed and much appreciated bath.

It was hot last week too down here; miserable in the low 90s. I hope that is not what summer will be. I hope you can figure out the battery situation, Tammie, because I know you like to go, go, go and it seems the batteries are limiting you to do so!
