Thanksgiving week…

Monday was a pretty good day. Daniel from numotion came by to get my chair and took it back to the shop to fix it, I got a new actuator, new tires all around, and you driving shaft… It was a nice day to stay in bed because it was kind of cold. Karen came in and we did some personal care and she did a bunch of other stuff around here. This is the week we are starting to get everything organized and get rid of what I don't need, some days I'm really in the mood to get rid of stuff and other days I just can't do it so I hope this week has a lot of days that I'm ready to get rid of stuff. I also want to try dehydrating my own vegetables for snacks for Robby and I, I hope it works. Rosa came in and sat me up and fed Robby and I and that was about it, I watched TV for the rest of the evening.

Tuesday was a pretty good day but really cold. I found a professional organizer to see if I could get my garage organized, I figure if I get the garage organized than the rest of the house might not be so overwhelming… The garage is really a mess. It was Karen stay off but she volunteered to come in and help the organizer and between the two of them they did an excellent job, so good that the organizer asked Karen if she wanted to work with her on other jobs… That is so awesome and I hope it works out. Lisa came in and got me up and we went over to cost plus to get some eggnog wine and some Italian soda to take to Rosa's house on Thanksgiving. We went to meet Omar at the storage unit to find the valances for my living room, Lisa took them down when she decorated for Halloween, and my food dehydrator which we did not find. We were on our way to Cosco when Karen texted me and said that she had to go to her other clients because for other clients caregiver didn't show up so we rushed back home so Lisa could help her straighten up the garage a little before she had to leave. She also started taking stuff out of the pantry in the kitchen and it was all over the kitchen floor. They got everything straightened up at least for the night and Lisa will come in the morning and make room in the garage for my mom's car. Everything looks great so far.  I got an email from CCI saying that it has been brought to their attention that Robby is overweight and they would like to work with me to get Robby's weight down, I'm so glad that my vet and I already addressed the situation and Robby is down to 70 pounds, the gentleman that rectified Robby wanted him down to 75 but my vet said 70 would be better since he is getting older. Rosa came in and put me to bed and we did some personal care and are really awesome long bath, we decided to try doing personal care every night for a while and see how that goes… I will love having a bath every night.

Wednesday was a pretty good day. Lisa came in and put me on my side and we picked out an outfits for me to wear for tomorrow, Thanksgiving. She also gave Robby a bath, he really needed one and I wanted to make sure he was clean for when we go to Rose's house tomorrow. She finished going through some stuff in the garage and cleaning it up, it looks awesome! I stayed in bed out of the cold and watch TV for the rest of the day. Rosa came in and we did some personal care and I got to take a nice long hot bath, as usual it felt great.

Thursday was a really good day but cold, it's getting colder. Karen came in and got me up and even though it was cold and took Robby for a nice cruise through the lagoon where I met a lady named Lynn, she lives in the apartment's overlooking the lagoon. She was in a wheelchair so I told her about our support group and gave her a little card, hopefully I will see her there. We talked about riding the bus and she says that she does it all the time, I told her I would like to start taking it and she said she will go with me a few times. I asked her about Kristof, a guy from the same apartment complex than I used to run into all the time, she said that about six months ago he had to go into a care facility because he could not live on his own anymore. I'm hoping to go visit him and see if he remembers me. We cruise down Westcliff Drive and back, down to the end of the wharf and back and then home to rest for a while and get all warmed up and ready to go to Rosa and her family's for Thanksgiving dinner. I brought my portable ramps but it was two really big steps close together to get into her house and it just wasn't going to happen so I sat on the porch with Adriana, Cindy, Keith and Nico. Cindy and Keith came back to my house to get my porch heater and that helped a little but it was just cold. My mom and I both had a really good time, what a nice family… Everybody in that family is sweet and caring. Dinner was excellent and the desert was awesome! Rosa, Adriana and Cindy brought me home and Rosa put me to bed. I didn't sleep very good, actually I didn't really sleep at all.

Friday look like it was going to be really cold so I decided to stay in bed again. I woke up frustrated and achy from the night before. Karen came in and we did some personal care and I just rested and watched movies the rest of the day. Theresa came in and I had turkey leftovers, they were awesome! I also got to take a nice long hot bath, I had the chills all day so it felt great.

Saturday was a long day. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to get up and brave the cold outside or stay in bed where it's nice and warm, Cindy said she would take Robby for a walk so I decided to stay in bed. Omar came by and brought all of the Christmas decorations, actually I think he said he only brought half, so now I'm getting really excited. He found a couple of light projectors that I bought after Christmas last year and plugged them in and they looked really cool, I can't wait to see what they look like on the front and back porch, maybe even one in the pergola. Theresa came in and we did some personal care and unfortunately I decided to not take a bath, what was I thinking?? I felt miserable all night.

Sunday I was already to get dressed and get out of this bed and go cruising around but Cindy never showed up, I waited until 8 AM and then called my mom to come down and feed Robby and I. I watched Trainwreck on paper view and texting Theresa to see if she can come in early and she said yes. It looks nice outside, it says 60°. I hope it's nice all week.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is only two weeks away…

Monday was a great day. Karen came in and got me dressed and Andrei and Todd came in to fix my backrest AGAIN, this time I think they got it. This is the first time since I got my chair four years ago that I have been really comfortable cruising around. My plan was to stay in bed after they fixed it and left but I decided to get up and try it out, and so glad I did. I took Robby for cruise through the lagoon, through Depot Park, to the end of the wharf and back, through the boardwalk where I met one of the security officers. When he stopped me and said hello I thought to myself "what did I do now?" I did stop by the security officers all the time wanting me to go down to guest services and get a tag on Robby's leash so everyone knows he's a service dog, this is what happens when people fraudulently portray their dog as a service dog… Nobody is trusted. I don't mind, in fact I wish they would ask more people to prove their dogs are legit. When they ask me I go down to guest services and they tell me "as long as your dog has a vest on you don't need to come in here". Anyway this time he said he just wanted to stop and say hi, he was so nice. I talked to him for a little bit about dogs of course and then cruise down to the end of the boardwalk and back to the wharf, it was too early to go home and it was such a beautiful day I wanted to cruise around some more. As I was cruising back down to go home I heard somebody say "well hello, we meet again" I turned around and saw Jake. I met Jake a couple of months earlier at the end of the wharf while I was waiting for Rosa to meet me for lunch. He just moved here and got a job in one of the shops on the wharf called Made in Santa Cruz, I'm writing to the lady that owns the shop all over town… She is so sweet. I talked to Jake while he was on his lunch break, I was happy I ran into him again and told him I would stop by the shop every once in a while to see how he's doing. I came home and rested for a bit and watched TV. Rosa came in and put me to bed and I watched TV until she left and then watched a movie.

Tuesday was a really good day. Lisa came in and got me up and took me to my appointment to see Dr. Owens… Finally! Of course we had to wait a little over an hour, Dr. Owens is a really good Dr. and very busy. It was good to see her. She gave me some prescriptions for Hanger prosthetics, a urologist, the dermatologist and she gave me a flu shot. Last week was Lisa's birthday and I was going to take her out to lunch but I ended up staying in bed so we went to lunch, she said she wanted Thai food. I remember this place where Teresa used to get Thai food and bring it here once a week so I asked her if she wanted to try that place. Apparently it had been closed down and today was their grand opening, the place looks a lot different… Really nice. One of my favorite dishes was egg plant with ground up shrimp and ground-up chicken, one of my other favorite dishes from there is barbecued duck… Both of them were as delicious as I remembered. Lisa got spring rolls and curried tofu soup, everything was good actually. We came back home and Omar and stained the Cabinet he made for the barbecue grill, it looks amazing. I rested for a bit and then Robby and I took off for a little cruise through the lagoon, down Westcliff Drive and back and down to the end of the wharf and back home. Rosie came in and we did some personal care and I got to take a nice long hot bath. I know we need the rain but I am really enjoying these beautiful days.

Wednesday was another great day. I met with a professional organizer to see if I can get this place not only organize by getting rid of some stuff that I don't really need or want any more. Our name is Carol and she swears that she's really really good, I'm going to try her out and see how she does with my garage and then go from there. I was telling Karen about her and Karen said that she was going to ask if I wanted her to start organizing, I have been trying to get somebody to organize here for as long as I have lived here. Karen is going to help Carol organize the garage and then hopefully Karen and Lisa can start organizing the rest of the house and then the storage unit, I really hope this happens because it will relieve a lot of stress. After Carol left I took Robby for cruise around Santa Cruz to see what we can see. I came home and watched TV for a bit and then Rosa and came in and put me to bed and I watched more TV and listen to music the rest of the evening.

Thursday was another beautiful day although I didn't really get to enjoy it very much. I had my weekly appointment with my psychologist and then Robby and I cruise around downtown for a little while and then came back to me at here with Kay for touchup, haircut and waxing. While Kay was leaving I noticed a big scratch on my floor where the table was drunk outside and then back in, I think were going to have to figure something else out. Whenever Kay comes over we have to move the shelves in the bathroom and are getting really Rickety so I asked her if we can figure something else out, maybe it would just be better if I went to her shop in Scotts Valley. She does such a great job with my hair I need to keep complaining but I'm very picky about my house. Rosa came in and put me to bed and we did some personal care but when we went to take a bath the battery on my lift was dying so I just got a shower over the tub, I was really looking forward to a bath. After Rosa got me into bed I heard the front door and my brother Stanley was here, what a nice surprise. He is striving for Uber and he said he started at his house in Modesto at 10 AM and Ubered this way here for the weekend, he got here around midnight… Pretty good I think.

Friday was another great day, this weather is just unbelievably beautiful and everybody is so happy. Karen came in and got me up and we took Robby down to the vet to get him weighed, he is down to his 70 pound goal so that means I can give him more food… He just looks so hungry all the time. I think I'm going to keep him on his regular food but give him dehydrated vegetables and see if I can keep his weight down. I bought a dehydrator a while back and now I just have to find it, I can't wait to get this place organized. I was cruising around the boardwalk and then I remember I had an appointment at my house and the guy was going to be there between 1 PM and 4 PM so I texted my mom, it was 10 minutes after 1 PM, and headed home. He got there shortly after I did. I have been looking for some kind of screen door so I can leave my doors open and I ran across these rollup screen doors, they actually roll across. They have a lifetime warranty so I figured I might as well give it a try, so many days and nights I wish that I could just keep on doors open but I can't stand the bugs coming in so I think this is going to be a good solution. Theresa came in and put me to bed and I was so tired I fell asleep before she left.

Saturday looked like it was going to be a great day but I decided to stay in bed, I'm just really tired and I wanted to day to stay inside and watch movies. Cindy came in and fed me the amazing breakfast that Stanley made. Omar came in and we made plans to start Christmas decorating, I hate it when people start decorating before Thanksgiving but I wanted to get everybody ready because it's like to be a big one. Thanksgiving is Thursday and we are going to start decorating the following Saturday, I just hope we can get the Thanksgiving decorations down by then.Theresa came in and put me to bed and we did some personal care and I got to take a nice long hot bath, it felt so good and I fell right to sleep after.

Sunday was a great day. Cindy came in and got me up and my mom, my brother and I went over the hill to the Santa Clara Convention Center for a Craft Festival. I have a friend that makes really awesome quilts, table runners, potholders… And I just love this stuff so I was excited to go. I love craft shows, everything there I have seen and wanted to try on Pinterest and DIY sites and have wanted to try. We had a really good time looking at everything and Robby even got to have his picture taken with Santa, Santa actually came down off the stage to say hello to Robby and wanted his picture taken with Robby… Of course Robby loved it. After that we cruised over to Valley fair mall and had lunch at the cheesecake factory. Every time I go there I always get the same thing… Shrimp scampi, steak Diane, red mashed potatoes and of course some kind of cheesecake. I should really have the cheesecake bur I just take a couple bites every night and at last me a while. We came back home just in time for Theresa to come in and put me to bed, the weather was beautiful and it was a great day.
