The joys of finding a new weekend caregiver…

Monday was a great day. It was so nice to be able to get up and out of this bed. Karen came in and got me up and ready for the day. Robby and I went for a cruise through the lagoon, to the first turn out on Westcliff Drive, down to the end of the Santa Cruz wharf and down to the end of the boardwalk and back, it was such a beautiful day and it was so nice to be out and about I didn't want to come back but I had to… At Least I get to get up all week. Rosa came in and put me to bed and Kelly came in to watch a movie with me, we watched miracles from heaven and I cried through practically the whole movie but it had a great ending.

Tuesday was a good day. I had an interview with the potential caregiver when she messaged me and the morning and told me that she already found a job. I hope I can find somebody by this weekend because there are so many good things to do, namely Derby girls bout. Karen came in and got me up and I made some phone calls, really really hate making phone calls but it's nice to get stuff done.  We cruised down to the Santa Cruz wharf and I ran into Omar working, and you I would see him there one day. I talked to him for a bit and he said he was coming by later to do some work. Robby and I headed out for my dentist appointment, just a cleaning and she said my teeth looked great. As we were cruising back my phone rang and I assume that it was Rosa and I forgot about it until Rosa came in and I asked her if she called me and she said no so I listened to the message and it was my mom. She cracked her rib and then got pneumonia and was having a hard time breathing, this has been over a month, she wasn't getting better so she went to see her doctor and they immediately sent her to the hospital for more tests. They diagnosed her with a fib and hooked her up to a bunch of monitors and oxygen. Pretty scary! Rosa came in and put me to bed and my aunt came over to give me an update, she's going to be okay. Stanley came down and spent some time with her and sent me a picture, they both looked happy so I was relieved. Stanley came to say for a couple of days.

Wednesday was a pretty good day. Karen came and got me up and Stanley and I headed over to the hospital to spend the day with my mom. She was just uncomfortable, she had to sit up or she couldn't breathe into this tired of sitting up. They brought her in a recliner and she was a lot more comfortable by the time we left. Stanley brought me back home and Rosa came in to put me to bed. I was really tired and sore and fell right to sleep.

Thursday was a really good day. Karen came in and got me up and Robby and I headed downtown to my appointment with Carol, the psychologist. The time went by really fast and after the appointment I decided to go down to the bank and see if I get a pin code for my debit card, I got a new one but I don't remember getting any notice about the code so I got to pick out my own code… Hopefully I won't forget. Since I was in the neighborhood I decided to cruise down to world market and see what they have there, I love looking through that store. And since it was right across the street I went down to Ross to see what they have, they already have some of their Halloween decorations out and I found some different colored bottles with witches brew ingredients on them… I hope they are still there whenever I can get back. As I was leaving Ross my brother texted me to see if I wanted to go visit my mom in the hospital so I met him back home and we cruised over there. Before we left we stopped at Emily's bakery and got a couple sandwiches and some coffee, it's right at the top of the hill about two blocks away and I don't know why we don't go there more because everything looked delicious and they had pretty much anything you want. There's even a nice little deck outside with a river running underneath it. She looked a lot better and she was in a really good mood, she didn't really see in a hurry to get back home but she did miss being home. I think there's a lot of security with staying at the hospital when you don't feel good. We came home and Rosa came in to put me to bed, we didn't do the personal care or a bath because I knew I wasn't going to be able to get up tomorrow morning so I'll just do everything then. Before Rosa left she put on my snorkel and took Robby out and I fell asleep almost immediately, I have just been really tired lately.

Friday was a nice relaxing day. Karen came in and we did some personal care and I got to take a nice long hot bath, it felt great. The ladies came in and cleaned my house so everything is nice and fresh. I talked to Stanley for a while and then watched TV and rested while he took off to go to the hospital and a little while later he came home with my mom, she was anxious to get upstairs and rest. Kelly finished working across the street and came by to visit for a while, she looked really tired. Stanley took off to drive Uber for a while and Kelly went upstairs to visit with my mom. My mom and Kelly went to Safeway to get some groceries and they brought me back some chicken noodles soup for dinner.

Saturday was a great day. Cindy came in and got me up and Robby and I went for a nice long cruise through the lagoon, down Westcliff Drive, to the end of the Santa Cruz wharf and back and home. Our last cruise together in public places and the last day until Robby retires, I can still use his vest but I can no longer take him in public places. We came back home and Omar was fixing my door, the automatic door opener in my room wasn't working so he switched it with the front door, I don't use the front door unless there's a car in the driveway and I can't get by… I always enter through my bedroom. The guy that usually works on my automatic door systems was here are a couple of months ago and said he was going to bring his daughter because he was retiring and he never got back to me. I sat outside in the sun for a while, it felt great! Kelly came out and said that she was ready to go, we are going to go out to dinner and then to the Derby girls bout… Two of my favorite things. We drove down to the Civic Auditorium and parked the van, the parking lot is kind of small so you don't get there early it's hard to find a place to park. As we were cruising through downtown I remember the new Korean barbecue place that opened up next to Surftiders CafĂ©, it was awesome! I will definitely be back to try everything on the menu. Kelly ordered a rice pot that was still sizzling when they brought to the table… It was so hot the egg cooked itself while we were sitting there. I had kimchi rice dish and it was amazing! We also ordered spareribs, they were also awesome! They get a little dishes, one of them was fish cakes, fingerling potatoes, kimchi and bean sprouts… I liked all of them except the fish cakes. I was stuffed, we went on to the Derby girls bout and it was so much fun. There's three teams that state there, Organic Panic, Steamer Janes and Redwood Rebels. I never know which one to root for, I just love watching it. Boardwalk Bombshells is the team that travels. We came home and Karen came over to put me to bed, it was a great day and I was exhausted.

Sunday I ended up staying in bed, I hope I find a weekend caregiver soon. Cindy came in and fed Robby and I and took Robby for a little cruise.
