Week 2 with the cast… does anybody have a saw I can borrow?

Monday turned out to be a pretty relaxing day. Susan came by and gave me a massage, my neck and shoulders are so sore from carrying this thing around… I thought they had lighter fiberglass casts?? It's funny because the cast is on my right hand and all the muscles on the left side of my upper body are the ones that sore. My right arm is sure going to be strong after this, I'm kind of excited about that. Rosa came by and gave me a nice long hot bath, after a long day of personal care it sure felt great. I can't wait to soak my right arm when the cast comes off, I'm pretty sure it's going to look like a shriveled prune. I didn't really think about it but I guess I looked pretty sad driving my chair around with this boxing glove cast. Yesterday while we were cruising down the wharf there was a couple sitting at the bench looking at the water, the guy turned around and looked at me and said to his girlfriend “I promise I will never complain about anything again” and we all started laughing… I don't think he thought I heard him and he looked kind of embarrassed and apologize. I guess if I saw a video of me driving around like this I would either laugh or feel very sorry for me also. I'd rather fumble around driving than stay in bed when it's so nice outside and hey… I think I will have this master, hopefully before it's time to take it off.

Tuesday it was really cold. I got up hoping the sun would come out and everything would be great… it never got great. I had an appointment to get my hair dyed and cut, it had been a while and it really needed it. I got home and Teresa said there was no highlights on the lights in my hair so I don't know what happened. We didn't really get to cruise around except over to Sunshine Villa and back, it's about a mile away. I came home and Teresa put me to bed. I was so sleepy right before she got here and the whole time she was putting me to that and I even fell asleep for a short while but now of course I'm wide awake at 11:30 PM.

Wednesday was also really cold but any day outside is always better than a day stuck in bed. We cruised the lagoon, the wharf and the boardwalk twice, when it's cold we always do it in shifts. Rosa came by and put me to bed and Lee and Claudia, my uncle and aunt came by to play cribbage and for dinner. My uncle and aunt made some killer chicken soup, made a killer salad and brought killer bagels from Noah's… my favorite is spinach and cheese. We all have a good time and ended up playing 3 or 4 games before Lee started yelling at Claudia that it's time to go home.

Thursday was an okay day. Wednesday evening I started sweating and my heart was beating really fast so I had my mom come down and get me a lorazepam, of course this was at midnight. I try to wait as long as I can and try to make it go away on my own but sometimes I can't. So needless to say I slept all day Thursday. Teresa came by to show Rosa a few things, I didn't want to overwhelm her with everything when she 1st started. She showed her how to do range of motion and some personal care. They gave me a bath, cleaned my room and set up my new bedroom furniture. After my bath Teresa was getting ready to lift me up out of the tub and the lift wouldn't work. We decided to put it back on the charger and wait for a while, it worked for about a minute and then it quit again. We left it on the charger for a little while longer and it charged enough to at least get me back into bed, that is so annoying. I can't wait to see how great my new bathroom looks tomorrow.

Friday was a pretty good day. My neck and shoulders were really sore so I didn't get up, another day in bed. I did get a nice long massage so I'm hoping that tomorrow I will feel better. Tomorrow I get to go to Costco, I LOVE Costco. I got a couple of rewards checks so I'm even more excited about going. I didn't get to see how my new bathroom looks but Karen did take some pictures and it looks great, roomier. I just rested the rest of the day and watched a movie called Playing for Keeps with Gerard Butler, ever since I saw chasing Mavericks I just really like watching him. It was a really good movie but predictable.
Saturday was an awesome day. I got up and the weather outside was just perfect. Robby and I went for our normal cruise and it was just so awesome to be out and about. The ocean was so gorgeous, I can't wait for the Google glasses to come out so I can take a picture of all this awesomeness. I came back and Rosa put me to bed and my aunt and uncle came over to play cribbage with my mom and I. May have only lasted a couple of games but we continue to play after she left, I ROCKED… I just could not get a bad hand. I got 24 points in my crib, that's really rare and exciting. I slept good that night. For breakfast I had my leftover pad Thai noodles with garlic tofu and prawns and for dinner I had mustard chicken, asparagus, roasted brussels sprouts and wheat berries. Yes it was a great day!

Sunday started out not so good and then it got worse. I ended up staying in bed because of unexpected personal care. I had a couple of hours to relax before Rosa came in to give me a bath. We got everything ready, got me up in the lift and it wouldn't go through the hallway to the bathroom… talk about frustrating. Rosa is just so cool… she decided to give me a bath right here in the middle of my floor and it worked out just fine. I wish I had 5 Rosa's. She turned a really bad night into a great one. For breakfast I had scrambled eggs, pulled pork and cheese. For dinner I had fish, wheat berries and eggplant… for a snack after I went to bed I have salami, cheese and crackers. It turned out to be not such a bad day I guess.

Rosa does sound like a great person! Creative too on where to give you a bath! I hear we are supposed to be 17 degrees above average temperature today; hope the same goes for your part of California Tammie!
