Christmas week…

Monday was not a very good day. I woke up about 5 AM because I could hear Robby's nails scratching on the floor, at first I thought he was having a nightmare until I heard him whining. I turned on the light and he was laying at the head of my bed, he only does that when he doesn't feel good. I watched him for a while as he would lay down, shift, sit up, lay down, moved to a different location and then start whining. I called my mom to come down and check on him and she took him outside and he peed and pooped and came back in and laid on his bed, I thought that was what he needed. He started doing the same thing all over again so I called my mom down again and he was just so uncomfortable, I felt so bad for. I called his regular vet and they don't open until 7:30 AM, this was at 6 AM. I called the emergency vet and they said I could bring him into them or wait until his regular vet opens and bring him there since they already know him. I decided to take them to the emergency that because I couldn't stand to see him so uncomfortable but by the time Kelly got here it was 7:25 AM so she just took him to the regular vet and luckily they saw him right away. Dr. Dave called me and said that his intestines were swollen and one of his kidneys didn't look so good, possibly because he was dehydrated. They helped him up to an IV and he called me back a couple of hours later and said that he was comfortable, thank goodness. We had a stray cat hanging around the porch and so a couple of the caregivers started feeding her and watch her food really closely so Robby doesn't get into it but it's possible he found some cat poop, he is part lab and they eat anything. Joani, the visiting nurse, came in and said that my pressure sore was looking great… It's almost totally healed.
Tuesday was a really nice day although I decided to stay in bed because Robby still wasn't feeling very good. I did call and talk to Dr. Dave and he said that Robby probably ate something and have a lot of gas in his stomach and somehow hurt his back, that's really scary. They gave him some tramadol and said to make him chicken, rice, sweet potatoes and low-sodium chicken broth to eat… He was really happy with that but I forgot to ask the doctor how much and for how long so he's enjoying it for a while. Lisa came in and put me on my side for a while and gave me a manicure and pedicure, I haven't had my fingernails and toenails done for a while and of course she did a great job. Rosa came in and we did some personal care and I got to take a nice long hot bath, first one in a while and it felt great!
Wednesday I really really wanted to get up but I'm supposed to rain all day and guess what?? It didn't. Robby was still looking and moving a little slow so I decided to stay in bed and hang out with the puppy.  Lisa came in and brought me a really cool woodland penguin and a really pretty Orchid plant, unfortunately I forgot to take pictures but hopefully we can do that tomorrow. Teresa came in and brought me some stuffed salmon and zucchini from whole foods, it was really good. We each opened a couple of presence and are so excited with what she got me. I LOVE the Big Bang theory and she got me a T-shirt and a soft Kitty, I just love it! The rest of the evening I just relaxed and watched TV.

Thursday was Christmas, it seemed like it took forever to get here and it also seemed like this year went by really fast. Teresa came in and make me blueberry pancakes and sausage for breakfast, I love pancakes and sausage. We did some personal care and I got to take a shower and then we opened up our kids to each other, Teresa always knows the perfect gifts to get me. Kelly made an incredible Christmas dinner for my mom and I. Chile Verde enchiladas and roasted garlic guacamole. She also made to unbelievable desserts, banana cream pie and layered carrot cake with creamy cheesecake and graham cracker frosting… I tried really hard not to eat too much.

Friday was a great day. Lisa came in and got me up and I was out of here. I took Robby for cruise through the lagoon, down Westcliff Drive and back, to the end of the wharf and back, to the end of the boardwalk and back, to the end of the wharf again and back. Every hour and pulled to the side and sat back for about 15 minutes just to look at the beautiful scenery, and I take a lot of pictures of the same place but I just never get tired of how beautiful everything here in Santa Cruz is. After being stuck in bed for periods of time my first time up in cruising around is really hard because my arms get tired. It started making myself left wrist weights every morning and cruising around was a breeze, I didn't have to rest because my arms tired and rested because I wanted to stare at the beautiful scenery… It was awesome! I came home and rested for a bit and then Rosa came in and put me to bed. I heard a note on my door and there was my brother Stanley so I got to visit him for a while and then in came Robert, Corinne came in also… It was really nice to see them. They went upstairs to get something to eat and I fell sleep, and been really itching lately so I took a couple of Benadryl.

Saturday was pretty great day. Lisa came in and got me up in my chair and I went outside to talk to Omar and sure enough… And let go of Robby's leash for two seconds and turned around and he was digging up Cat poop out of the roses, and yelled at him and he ignored me so I charged at him with my chair and told him to drop it but I think he ate it… Here we go again. I asked Omar if he could just put River rock wherever there's dirt so we don't have to keep having this problem. He said he would do it on Tuesday, I can't wait. I came back inside and Stanley made me breakfast… An omelette, two pieces of bacon and a blueberry pancake. I took Robby for cruise and took some pictures but of course they were pretty much the same pictures I always take, such a beautiful route. I came back home and said hello to my nephew David and Janet came in. We talked for a little bit and then Kelly started coming over with food. Kelly made a prime rib roast, cauliflower and asparagus and Janet made cheesy potatoes… It was all pretty amazing. We played cribbage for a while, Robert was my partner,  and then had dessert, the same desert that we had the night before and they were so good. Teresa came in and put me to bed and David came in and tried to fix my computer, my pictures were not uploading for my cell phone to my iPhoto. The rest of the evening and just watched intervention and relaxed.

Sunday was a really great day. My family was visiting, the sun was out and we went to the Crows Nest… I have wanted to go there since I moved here and it was everything I could've ever imagined. I had crab cakes Benedict with potatoes and fruit and it was EXCELLENT. The view was amazing, I usually only just get to drive by and I always hope that one day I will be able to just go cruise around over there, it's impossible to get there in my chair because the sidewalks are way too narrow. After that we went over to Costco to get my mom a new TV, when we got back the guys installed it and then unfortunately they had to go home. Each time they come to visit I enjoy it more and more and their stay gets shorter and shorter. Teresa came in and put me to bed and I just got to relax the rest of the evening.

Poor Robby!! He's had a rough few months with this and that! Wise to try to take care of the problem with the cat poop for sure so he is not attracted to it. It did seem like you had a nice Christmas and good visits with family! Wishing you a Happy New Year!!!
